When creating or managing a short link with Azaz, check the available link settings to see whether password protection is available.
What is password protection?
Password protection, when available, adds an extra access step before a visitor can continue through a short link.
Instead of immediately redirecting to the destination, the visitor may be asked to enter the correct password first.
Check your link settings
- Sign in to Azaz.
- Open your Azaz Dashboard.
- Go to My Links.
- Find the short link you want to protect.
- Open its available edit or management options.
- Look for an available password or access-protection setting.
Add a password
If password protection is available, enter the password you want to use and save the link settings.
Choose a password that is difficult for unauthorized visitors to guess.
Test the protected link
After enabling password protection, open the short URL in another browser or a private browsing window.
Confirm that:
- The short URL opens correctly.
- A password is requested before access is granted.
- An incorrect password does not provide access.
- The correct password allows the visitor to continue.
- The final destination is correct.
How do I share the password?
If other people need access to the protected link, provide the password to them through an appropriate communication method.
Avoid publishing the password directly next to the protected short link if the purpose of the password is to limit access.
Can I change the password later?
If the password setting can be edited, return to My Links, open the link's settings, update the password, and save your changes.
Remember that anyone using the previous password may need the new password after it is changed.
Can I remove password protection?
If the option is available, open the link's settings and remove or disable its password protection.
Test the short URL afterward to confirm that it behaves as expected.
Password protection and QR codes
You can create a QR code containing a password-protected Azaz short URL. Scanning the QR code does not normally replace the password requirement.
Visitors would still need to complete any access step configured for the short link.
You can create QR codes using Azaz QR Codes or access your QR dashboard.
Password protection is not encryption
A password-protected short link should not be treated as a secure storage system for highly sensitive information.
The security and privacy of the destination website and its content remain important even when access to the short link is restricted.
Use protected links responsibly
Password protection does not allow a link to bypass the Azaz Terms of Service. Protected links must not be used for phishing, malware, scams, or other prohibited activity.
