If you create many links for different campaigns, platforms, or audiences, keeping them organized can make them much easier to manage and understand.
Signed-in users can manage their Azaz short links from My Links.
Use a consistent naming system
Before creating several campaign links, decide how you will identify each campaign.
For example, you might organize links by:
- Campaign name
- Social platform
- Traffic source
- Audience
- Product or service
- Month or year
- Event
- Marketing channel
Consistency becomes especially useful when you have many links pointing to the same destination.
Create separate links for different sources
Instead of sharing one short link everywhere, you may choose to create separate links for different channels when you want to distinguish their activity.
For example, you might create different links for:
- A website
- A printed flyer
- A QR code
Each link can still lead to the same destination while giving you a clearer way to separate campaigns or placements.
Use clear custom aliases
When an appropriate custom alias is available, a descriptive alias can make a link easier to recognize.
For example:
https://azaz.click/summer-instagram
and:
https://azaz.click/summer-email
can be easier to distinguish than unrelated automatically generated aliases.
Avoid putting private or sensitive information in a custom alias because the alias forms part of a public URL.
Keep alias names simple
A useful naming pattern might combine a campaign name and source.
For example:
campaign-source
which could become:
launch-instagram
Try to use the same naming style across similar campaigns.
Use UTM parameters
UTM parameters can help compatible analytics tools on the destination website identify campaign sources and marketing channels.
For example:
https://example.com/product?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=summer
You can use the complete destination URL when creating an Azaz short link.
Keep UTM names consistent
Consistent UTM values make campaign reports easier to understand.
For example, if you use instagram as a source for one campaign, avoid unnecessarily switching between values such as:
instagramInstagraminstaIG
Analytics systems may treat differently written values as separate sources.
Example campaign structure
Imagine that you are promoting the same page through Instagram, email, and a printed QR code.
You could prepare destinations such as:
https://example.com/product?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=launch
https://example.com/product?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=launch
https://example.com/product?utm_source=flyer&utm_medium=qr&utm_campaign=launch
Each destination can then be shortened separately with Azaz.
Use QR codes for offline campaigns
For posters, menus, business cards, flyers, packaging, or other physical materials, you can create a QR code for the appropriate campaign link.
Visit Azaz QR Codes to create QR codes for supported content.
Consider using a different campaign link for each important placement if you want to distinguish activity between them.
Example: different QR code placements
Suppose the same campaign appears on a poster and a business card.
You could use:
utm_source=posterfor the posterutm_source=business_cardfor the business card
This can help your destination analytics system distinguish the two sources when it supports UTM tracking.
Review your links in My Links
Visit My Links regularly and review the links you have created.
Check that:
- The destination is still correct.
- The link is still needed.
- The campaign name or alias makes sense.
- The destination parameters are correct.
- The link opens successfully.
Review campaign activity
Available activity for your Azaz links can be reviewed through Azaz Statistics.
Using separate short links for different campaigns or placements can make it easier to compare the activity associated with those links.
Azaz Statistics and UTM analytics are different
Azaz Statistics and analytics on your destination website are separate systems.
Azaz can provide available statistics associated with your short links, while UTM parameters may be interpreted by an analytics system installed on the destination website.
The numbers from different analytics systems may not match exactly because they can use different counting, filtering, privacy, and attribution methods.
Avoid changing active campaign links unnecessarily
Before changing or deleting a short link, consider where it has already been shared.
An active campaign link may appear in:
- Social media posts
- Emails
- Advertisements
- Bio Pages
- QR codes
- Printed materials
- External websites
Deleting or changing a link that is already widely distributed could cause those existing copies to stop working as intended.
Archive your campaign information
For important campaigns, consider keeping your own simple record of the campaign name, short URL, destination, source, and where the link was shared.
This can be useful when managing many campaigns over a long period.
Do not put sensitive data in campaign URLs
URLs, aliases, and UTM parameters can be visible to visitors and may appear in browser history, analytics systems, server logs, or other services.
Never include information such as:
- Passwords
- API keys
- Authentication tokens
- Private credentials
- Sensitive personal information
For more information about privacy, review the Azaz Privacy Policy.
Use campaign links responsibly
All campaign links created with Azaz must comply with the Azaz Terms of Service.
Azaz links must not be used for phishing, malware, scams, spam, deceptive destinations, or other prohibited activities.
