Why do my Azaz statistics show fewer clicks than another analytics tool?

Last updated on September 20, 2026

If Azaz Statistics show fewer clicks than another analytics platform, this does not necessarily mean that either system is incorrect.

Different analytics services can measure different events, apply different filtering rules, and process traffic at different stages of a visitor's journey.

Different analytics tools measure different things

An Azaz short link records available activity associated with the short URL.

Another analytics service may instead measure activity on the destination website, such as page views, sessions, events, or users.

These measurements are not necessarily equivalent, so their totals should not always be expected to match.

A click is not always the same as a page view

A click on a short link and a page view reported by another analytics system are different events.

For example, one visitor could open a destination and generate multiple analytics events on that website.

Another analytics platform could therefore display a number that is higher than the click activity shown for the Azaz short link.

One visit can generate multiple analytics events

Destination analytics platforms may record several events during a single visit.

Depending on the analytics system, these could include:

  • Page views
  • Sessions
  • Button clicks
  • Navigation events
  • Conversions
  • Other configured events

Do not compare an event total directly with an Azaz click total unless you understand what both numbers represent.

Check what metric you are comparing

Before comparing Azaz with another analytics tool, check the name of the metric in each system.

For example, these are different concepts:

  • Clicks
  • Page views
  • Sessions
  • Users
  • Unique visitors
  • Events
  • Conversions

Comparing two differently defined metrics can create the appearance of a discrepancy even when both systems are operating normally.

Check the date range

Make sure both analytics systems are displaying the same reporting period.

For example, comparing the last seven days in Azaz with the last 30 days in another analytics tool will naturally produce different totals.

Also check whether one report includes the current day while another does not.

Check the time zone

Analytics platforms may use different time zones.

Activity near midnight can therefore be assigned to different calendar days in different systems.

This can affect daily totals even when both systems observed related activity.

Check whether the other analytics tool covers more traffic

Your destination website may receive visitors from sources other than your Azaz short link.

For example, people might reach the website through:

  • Search engines
  • Direct visits
  • Bookmarks
  • Social media links
  • Email links
  • Other websites
  • Other short links
  • QR codes that point directly to the destination

A destination analytics tool may include all of this traffic, while the statistics for a particular Azaz link relate only to activity associated with that link.

Example

Imagine your website receives 500 visits during a campaign.

Some visitors may arrive through your Azaz short link, while others arrive from Google, direct visits, social media, bookmarks, or another source.

The destination analytics platform could therefore report more overall website activity than the individual Azaz short link.

Make sure you are checking the correct Azaz link

If you created several short links for the same destination, their activity may be associated with different links.

Open My Links and verify that you are reviewing the intended short URL.

If you use multiple campaign links, review each relevant link when comparing overall campaign activity.

Multiple Azaz links can point to the same page

You may have several Azaz short links that all redirect to the same destination.

For example:

  • One link for Instagram
  • One link for email
  • One link for a QR code
  • One link for a Bio Page

A destination analytics platform may combine traffic from all of these sources, while you may be looking at statistics for only one Azaz link.

QR codes can use different destinations

If you use Azaz QR Codes, check what URL is actually encoded in each QR code.

A QR code that points directly to your website will not necessarily produce activity for an Azaz short link.

If you want activity associated with a particular short link, the QR code needs to use that short URL as its destination.

Bio Pages can contain different types of links

An Azaz Bio Page may contain links to different destinations.

If a Bio Page button points directly to an external website instead of through a particular Azaz short link, activity on that destination should not automatically be expected to appear as clicks for that short link.

UTM parameters and Azaz Statistics are separate

UTM parameters can help compatible destination analytics systems understand campaign sources.

For example:

https://example.com/?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=launch

UTM information is generally interpreted by analytics tools associated with the destination website.

This is separate from the available activity reported through Azaz Statistics.

Filtering can be different

Analytics services may use different methods for identifying or filtering automated and unusual traffic.

This can include:

  • Bots
  • Web crawlers
  • Security scanners
  • Link preview systems
  • Automated requests
  • Suspected spam traffic

Differences in filtering can cause one platform to report more activity than another.

Reporting may not update at the same time

Different analytics systems may process and display information at different times.

One service may show recent activity quickly while another may take longer to process or update its reports.

If you are comparing very recent activity, check again after the systems have had time to update.

Use separate links when you need clearer campaign comparisons

If you want to compare different traffic sources, consider creating separate Azaz short links for important campaigns or placements.

You can create links from Azaz and manage them from My Links.

For example, you could create separate links for email, social media, QR codes, and printed materials.

Do not treat analytics as exact identification

Analytics totals should not automatically be interpreted as an exact count of identifiable people.

Browser privacy protections, network configuration, automated traffic, filtering, and other technical factors can affect analytics information.

Protect visitor privacy

Use analytics responsibly and avoid placing sensitive personal information in URLs, aliases, or campaign parameters.

For more information about how Azaz handles information, review the Azaz Privacy Policy.

Use Azaz responsibly

All short links and their destinations must comply with the Azaz Terms of Service.

To report phishing, malware, scams, or another harmful Azaz link, use the Report page.
